Obituary of Judith A Bond

Judith Ann Bond, "Judy". 76. of Verona, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Abraham House in Rome with her daughter at her side.

She was born in Rome, on June 3, 1946, the daughter of Calvin Virgil and Bernyce Minnie (Weaver) Bond.  She was a 1964 graduate of Oneida High School.  Judy was a descendant of Jim and Vera Weaver, who hailed from Rome in the early part of the 20th century.  

Judy dedicated her life to God at age 28, when she was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on March 16, 1974.  Her 49-year walk of faith helped her teach others about the Bible, as she actively shared with others Jehovah's plan for mankind's future.  This unwavering faith in Jehovah and his plan gave her the strength she needed in her 21-day fight at the hospital and the 7-days of rest at Abraham House bearable.  

Known as "Bubby" to her 4 grandchildren, she was an endless giver of knowledge, life skills, and fun!  From sing-a-long road trips, to music, theatre, antiques, classic movies, trivia games, art, and poetry, there was never a dull moment.  Do you know the name of the person who invented "Trivial Pursuit"?  Well, Bubby would know.  Or when the lilacs will be in bloom? Bubby would know! 

A renaissance woman, Judy spent much of her life as an artist and poet.  Her paintings and poetry filled the pages of "Books of Love," a company she started with her mother at the kitchen table in her home in Davenport, Fl and at the Florida Festival at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida in 1982.  After signing a contract with Hallmark Stores, "Books of Love" would go on to sell over 1 million books worldwide, in over 10 languages.  Her most popular poem, "What Mom Took," found its way onto grateful mothers' mantles everywhere.  

Judy also shared her passion for capturing the beauty of creation as an art teacher for most of her life, including her recent years teaching classes in Haines City, FL. and in Sherrill, NY. She could take the most insecure and timid student and show them the fun and beauty they could create.  

Judy is survived by her son, Richard Lambright, of FL; her daughter Tabitha (Aaron) Finster, of Oneida; her sister, Linda Kent, of FL; her brother John (Teri) Bond, of FL; her grandchildren Gabrielle, Skyler, and JR Lambright, of FL; and Aaden Finster, of Oneida; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Judy was predeceased by her parents, her brother Peter Bond; and her grandson, Richie Lambright.

Services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 6615 Potter Rd. Rome, on Saturday, August 26th at 1:30 p.m. You may view the service via Zoom (meeting ID: 880 0240 6315 and passcode: 02614).
