Obituary of Erven A. Wood

Erven A. Wood better known to his friends as “Woode” age 72 and originally from the Elmira, NY area passed peacefully on January 18, 2023. He had suffered for many years likely due to his active combat service in Vietnam. He lived in Colorado where he became a journeyman painter and plasterer. He later applied his skills in Arizona, New Mexico, Italy, Israel and South America before settling in Seattle, WA. In Washington he applied his skills by assisting an immigrant plaster/stucco startup company. He quickly became a member of the Rudy’s Plastering family where he loved and was loved by the extended family.  Woode’s children both relocated to Seattle for periods of time to help their father in any way possible. During his last year his son’s own medical condition became grave and he relocated to the Rome, NY area to be close to him and his family. Sadly, Shannon Michael passed in November 2022.

Woode was well known as a joker who made friends easily and lived life to the fullest. Friends and family have great stories of the times they spent with him. He could also be cantankerous at times primarily due to his illnesses and physical limitations. He spent his personal time in recent years focusing on his veteran’s experience, writing and photography.

Woode was predeceased by his Father Olin, Mother LaCrete and son Shannon Michael. He was survived by wife Carol, daughter Brenda Broekhuizen, brothers Ward, Bruce and Gary and sister Cheryl Daniels. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Myranda and Mason Arnesen, Brandi Ross, Ashley Shafer, Caleb, Jacob, Michael and Christopher Wood. Along with many beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, familia at Rudy's Plastering and barista's at Java Java coffee.
