Dorothea Bartolomeo Sledziona was welcomed into heaven by her parents Anthony Bartolomeo and Catherine Alaimo Bartolomeo, and her sisters Josephine B. Ciotti and Lucille B. Venturo on February 8, 2022 after a short illness. Born March 1, 1939 in Rome New York and a graduate of Rome Free Academy, she met the love of her life there, Edward J Sledziona, Sr. They married at St John the Baptist Church on September 21, 1957 and enjoyed a long happy marriage. They made their home in Rome, Apalachin, and Rochester. Dottie was a busy homemaker, cook, realtor, PTA officer, Elks Club member, RFA alumna, choir member at Lady of Sorrows Church, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary member, member of the card club, bowling league, and golf league. She loved to cheer at a good football game. Dottie was a true friend and said hello to everyone. She loved children and always had a specially chosen treat for them. She was “Aunt Dot” to many extended family and friends. Dottie loved her family including Colby, Czop, Pacicca, Venturo, Sledziona, Mierek, Eidt, Tramacera, all the extended family members as well as countless lifelong friends and special neighbors. You all know who you are. To say she adored her grandsons Scott Colby and Marc Colby would be an understatement. Dorothea is survived by her husband of 64 years, Edward J. Sledziona, Sr., her daughter Darlene Colby, son Edward J. Sledziona Jr., her sister Carmella B. Pacicca; son in laws, nieces, nephews, grandnephews, grandnieces, and lifelong friends. Special appreciation to Darlene’s husband Richard Colby for staying with Dottie many a night and sharing a crème de menthe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 5th at 12:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick St., Rome NY 13440. There are no calling hours.
