Obituary of Yvonne R Engle

Yvonne R. Engle, 89, of Cedarbrook Dr., Rome, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at the St. Luke’s Home where she had been a patient for the last thirteen days. She was born on March 6, 1932, in Gratz, PA, the daughter of Guy and Jennie Maurer Troxell. She was a 1950 graduate of Rome Free Academy. She then went on to graduate from nursing school in Harrisburg, PA. On March 26, 1955, Yvonne was united in marriage to Howard W. Engle in Herdon, PA. Mr. Engle passed away on March 14, 1997. Yvonne was employed as Registered Nurse for Rome Memorial Hospital for many years where she worked in the Operating Rooms and Maternity Ward. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rome and was a proud Girl Scouts Leader for several years. Surviving are her daughter, Nancie McClendon, of Rome; her grandson, Michael McClendon; her great-granddaughter, Simone McClendon; her sister, Joselyn Sanchez, of Rome; and several nieces and nephews. Yvonne was predeceased by her brother, Dennis G. Troxell; and brother-in-law, Simon Sanchez. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Rome Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made in Yvonne’s memory to the Rome Humane Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N.
