Obituary: Patricia R. "Pat" May, 79, of 150 Van Tassel Lane, Rome, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 17, 2008, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, following a long illness. She was born on March 16, 1929, in Rochester, NY, the daughter of J. Elmer and Frances Rex Roland. She was a graduate of Nazareth Academy in Rochester. On March 31, 1951, Pat was united in marriage to J. Arthur "Art" May in Rochester, NY.
Mrs. May was employed by Simpkin's for several years.
Pat was a member of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church and their Altar Rosary Society. She was a member of the Butternut Twigs, Teugega Country Club, the Lake Delta Yacht Club, and the Red Hat Society of Charlottesville, VA.
Surviving besides her loving husband of fifty-seven years, Art; are two daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Ronald McNamara, of Verona, and Tricia and Michael St. Leger, of Chittenango; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jack and Christine May, of Lenexa, KS, Rick and Kim May, of Salt Lake City, UT, and Jim May and his partner, Bill Kieffer, of Boston; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Ruth Nelson, of Rochester, Mary Ellen and Charles Crane, of Taneytown, MD, and Sister Clare Roland, C.S.J., of Rochester; a brother and two sisters-in-law, James and Pat Roland, of Plant City, FL, and Janet Roland, of Rochester,; six granddaughters, Jennifer, Rebekah, Elizabeth, Brigid, Clare, Hannah; four grandsons, David, Charlie, Seamus, and Wyatt; and a great-grandson, Jackson. Pat was predeceased by three sisters, Monica Gardner, Jean Perkins, and Carol Cullen; one brother, Edward Roland; and a grandson, Scott McNamara.
Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Monday, April 21, 2008 at 10:15 AM and a Mass of the Christian Burial at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church at 11:00 AM. Family and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Contributions may be made in Pat's memory to the Bethany Gardens Activities Fund, 800 W.
