Obituary of Bruce S. Melnick

Bruce S. Melnick, 69, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born in Rome on December 7, 1951. He was a 1969 graduate of Rome Catholic High School and July 20, 1991 he was united in marriage to Dori Williamson.
Bruce was a radio DJ known as the “Doc of Rock” for stations 92.7 FM and 96.1 FM for many years. He was also the proprietor of the Rhinehaus in Rome. Bruce loved the Rome community and was very active with Volunteers In Police Service (VIPS) where he served for many years as Chief. He enjoyed spending time at his camp in Inlet, NY and boating during the summer months.
Surviving besides his wife, Dori, is his mother, Jane Jamison; two daughters, Kristi (Edward) Alsheimer and Jami Williamson (Kyle Roth); two sisters, Brenda (Brian) Bradford and Kimberly (Paul) Andrews; two “brothers”, Jim Melnick and John (Deb) Melnick; seven grandchildren, Cami, Ella, Avery, Cash, Lennon, Julian, Roman and one on the way; his aunt and Godmother, Helen Baynard; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends that became family. He was predeceased by his brother, Brian Jamison, and father, Clair Jamison.
