Name: George J. Vogel Date of Death: Saturday, March 12, 2005 Residence: Rome Age: 79 Obituary:George J. Vogel, 79, of Rome, died Saturday March 12, 2005 in Rome Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was born December 30, 1925, in Cohoes, NY, the daughter of George and Albina Vogel Sr. He was a graduate of Cohoes High School. He later earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Clarkson University. George was married to Rinalda Gigante. She died May 19, 1977. On June 29, 1991, he married Linda Coiro in Oriskany. George worked at the Research and Development Center at Griffiss Air Force Base for several years, retiring in 1980. George served in the US Army during World War II in the European Theater. Surviving besides his wife, are one daughter, Sharon Gleasman, Chittenango; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Lori, Lee Center; step-daughter, Jerrie Lin Coiro, Rome; step-son, Christopher Coiro, Waterville; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Bill Chambers, Clearwater, FL; three grandchildren, Brian, Brandon, and Angela-Anne; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three sisters, Corinne Kuhar, Mary O'Brien, and Evelyn Lageunese, and a stepson, David Coiro. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1pm at the Delta United Methodist Church. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Wednesday from 5-8pm. Contributions in George's memory may be made to the American Heart Association. Services: Funeral Thurs. at 1pm at the Delta United Methodist Church. Calling hours are Wed. from 5-8pm.
