Rotenberry, 94, of 5601 W Ava Rd., Ava, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, in Rome Memorial Hospital. She was born on August 2, 1913, in Marion, Virginia, the daughter of Levi and Lucinda Brooks Peake. In January of 1932, she was united in marriage to Ray Elmer "Buck" Rotenberry. Mr. Rotenberry died on May 25,1992. Mrs. Rotenberry has been a resident of Ava since 2004. She had previously resided in Herndon Heights, West Virginia from 1956 to 2004. Surviving is a daughter, Gertrude Curry, of Athens, WV; two sons and daughters-in-law, Cecil and Leah Rotenberry, with whom she resided, and Roger and Judy Rotenberry, of Kinzers; a step-daughter, Etta Lane and her husband, Norman, of Georgetown, PA; a step-brother and sister-in-law, Rev. R.C. and Louise Wagner, Roanoke, VA; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and seven great great-grandchildren. Oma was predeceased by two daughters, Nancy Rotenberry, and Lucille Rotenberry. Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Friday, April 18, 2008, at 7:00 PM. Interment will take place in West Cemetery in Marion, VA, on the family lot.
