Obituary:Michael G. "Chico" Myslinski, 86, passed away on March 7, 2008, at Bethany Gardens, surrounded by his family.
Chico was born on November 28, 1921, in Herkimer, NY, the son of Gregory and Mary Novak Myslinski. On May 9, 1942, he was united in marriage with Helen Kawalec at St. Mary's Church, in New York Mills. Helen passed away on December 30, 1980.
Chico worked at Varflex Corp for twenty-four years, until his retirement in 1982. He was a very proud veteran, who served in the Pacific Campaign in the Coast Guard during World War II. He belonged to the Frank J. Steczko Post and the Rome Polish Home. He was a faithful parishioner of Transfiguration Church. Chico was an avid fisherman, gardener, and an excellent cook. He enjoyed all sports, especially the New York Giants and Syracuse University Basketball.
He is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Lorraine and Paul La Bella of Rome, and Sharon Misurda of Camden; three beloved grandchildren, Paul La Bella and his wife, Janice, of Rochester, Laura and her husband, Matthew Cummings of Rochester, and Candice and her husband, Eric Cesari of Rome; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Felicia Cesari of Rome; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Frances and Steve Lolo of Rome, and Stella Belch of New York Mills; as well as many nieces and nephews, with special acknowledgement of Tom Myslinski and Susan Tarkowski for their love and support. He is predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Regina Myslinski, and two sisters, Pauline Perano and Millie Grandstrom.
Chico's family wishes to extend their appreciation to the second floor nursing staff at Bethany Gardens for their care and compassion.
Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Monday, March 10, 2008, at 8:15AM and a Mass of the Christian Burial at Transfiguration Church at 9:00 AM. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. Contributions may be made in Chico's memory to the American Cancer Society, Memorial Processing Center, 6725 Lyons St., PO Box 7, East Syracuse, NY, 13057.
