"Josie" Chafee, 58, of 152 Turin St., Rome, died on Thursday, February 7, 2008, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, following a long illness. She was born on October 10, 1949, in Rome, NY, the daughter of Foster W. (Skip) and Esther Parson Schrefer. She was a graduate of Rome Free Academy and attended Syracuse University. She was employed by the Rome Y.M.C.A. for twenty years, retiring in 2006. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joseph and Tiffany Macri, Concord, NC, and Elvis Macri, Rome; a sister, Sandy Squadrito, Taberg; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Raymond Schrefer, FL, Ernest Schrefer, OH, Foster and Paula Schrefer, Lee Center; and one grandson, Brandon; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Josie loved music and art. Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Monday, February 11, 2008, at TBA. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in the spring. Family and friends are invited and may call on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
