Obituary:Helena B. Broskay, 87, of 129 Seneca Ave, Oneida Castle, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2008, at her home with her loving family at her side. She was born on March 19, 1920, in Clinton, the daughter of Edward and Victoria Paschiak Barron. She was a graduate of Clinton High School.
On August 26, 1944, she was united in marriage with Theodore Broskay in St. Mary's Church in Clinton. He died on January 18, 1963.
She was employed by Rome Developmental Center for several years. Helena had previously been employed by Griffiss Air Force Base.
She was a member of Transfiguration Church.
Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Carol A. and James Peck, of Oneida Castle; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Paul Broskay, of Rome, and Edward and Sally Broskay, of Houston, TX; three sisters, Gladys Stanley, of Sidney, NY, Nellie Capraro, of Clinton, and Stella Borek, of Utica; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Helena was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Joanna; three brothers, Leo Barron, Louie Barron, and Stanley Barron; and three sisters, Joanne Hill, Mary Snyder, and Julie Wenzel.
Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Thursday, January 17, 2008, at 4:00 PM. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Contributions may be made in Helena's memory to the Visiting Nurses Association of Central New York, Inc., 1050 W. Genesee St., Syracuse, New York 13204.
