Obituary:Marilyn Joan Joslin passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2008, at home with family and friends by her side. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, as well as a kind and gentle friend. She will also be remembered by family and friends for her strong faith in Jesus Christ.
Marilyn was born in Rome Memorial Hospital to Minnie Mae and James Willard Streiff. She grew up in Floyd, New York. She was one of twelve brothers and sisters. She graduated from Holland Patent Central School in 1972 and then Saint Elizabeth School of Nursing in 1976. Instead of pursuing a nursing career, she chose to remain at home with her family and make a home for her husband and children.
Marilyn Joan Streiff married James Willard Joslin, Jr., on August 14, 1976. After living a short time in Holland Patent, New York, they moved to Remsen where they have resided these past twenty-nine years. Marilyn enjoyed being with her family and friends, sewing, and cooking family dinners.
Surviving besides her loving husband, James; are three daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Michael James Cooley, of Frankfort, NY, Kelly and Kevin Pinkos, of Prospect, NY, and Holly and Jason Powers, of Charleston, SC; a son, James Henry Joslin, of Remsen, NY; two beloved grandchildren, Aiden Pinkos, and Ellie Powers; four sisters, Minnie Coleman, Shirley and Bob Hobin, Mary and Larry Hobin, and Betty-Ann and Joseph Gasper; and six brothers, Willard and Kathy Streiff, Charles and Elaine Streiff, Gabriel and Beth Streiff, John Streiff, Fred Streiff, and Ray Streiff; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a younger brother, Edward Streiff.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2008, at 6:00 PM at the Poland Baptist Church. Interment will take place in Steuben Valley Cemetery in the spring. Family and friends are invited and may call on Thursday, January 10, 2008, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St. Rome. Contributions may be made in Marilyn's memory to the American Cancer Society, Memorial Processing Center, 6725 Lyons St., East Syracuse, NY, 13057.
