Obituary of Helen B. Beer
Helen B. Beer, 96, of Westmoreland, NY, passed away peacefully at home on January 1, 2025. Born on March 24, 1928 to the late Piotr and Karolina Bradlinski, Helen was beloved not only by her family, but all who were blessed to know her.
Helen was a lifelong resident of Westmoreland, NY. On July 19, 1947, she married Vernon J. Beer at Transfiguration Church in Rome. Helen was devoted to her Catholic faith and attended services at Transfiguration Church all her life.
A proud graduate of the Westmoreland Central School and valedictorian of the class of 1945, Helen dedicated many years of her life to serving her hometown district. She worked as a secretary for the Westmoreland Central School District from 1965-1985 and continued to work part-time for the district from 1987-2006. She was also an active member of the Westmoreland Alumni Association and enjoyed keeping up with the many accomplishments of her fellow alumni. Prior to starting her family, Helen worked in the personnel office at Rome Cable Corporation from 1945-1954.
Helen’s faith guided her throughout her life and shined through in the way she cared deeply for others. Those who knew and loved Helen will remember her for her kindness, generosity and the way she made everyone feel important. She made friends wherever she went, never forgot a birthday or important date, and she loved to tell stories about the many friends and loved ones she gained throughout the years. Helen was proud of her Polish heritage and enjoyed teaching her family about her many cherished traditions, including the annual celebration of Wigilia (Christmas Eve) and making of Pisanki (Easter eggs).
Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband, Vernon J. Beer; her brother, John Bradlinski and his wife, Josephine Bradlinski; her nephew Douglas Bradlinski; her great nephew Philip Watros; her brother-in-law Oscar Beer; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leo and Rita Wierzbicki.
Helen is survived by her children, Edward (Mary) Beer of Westmoreland and Debra Beer of New Jersey; her brother, Peter (Sharon) Bradlinski; her grandchildren, Richard (Kathy) Landcastle, Marc (Julie) Landcastle and Susan (Richard) Black; her great grandchildren, Rich (Kristen) Landcastle, Brittney Dullin, Christopher Landcastle, Rebecca (Mark) Walts, Katie Landcastle (Drew Stottlar), and Collin (Autumn) Black; her great great grandchildren, Elena and Hailey Walts, Reed and Hudson Landcastle, and Everlee and Cameron Black. Helen was a special aunt to her cherished nieces and nephews: John (Diane) Bradlinski, Carol (Duke) Watros, Karen (Peter) Casey, Elaine (Robert) Nelson and children (Katie and Dan), and Karen, Pam and Ann Marie née Wierzbicki and children; her great nieces and nephews, Jeffrey (Sandra) Bradlinski, Kevin (Amanda) Bradlinski, Alex Watros, Steven Watros, Melissa Bradlinski, Peter Bradlinski (Angeles), Caroline Casey, Meredith Casey and Catherine Casey; her great great nieces and nephews, Taylor Watros, Hayden Watros, Emma Watros, Bentley Watros and Carson Hartman; and her honorary grandchildren, Rob and Kathy Snider.
Helen will be dearly missed and her memory will forever live on in those who knew and loved her.

Helen’s family invites all who loved her to celebrate her life. Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440, on Sunday, January 5th from 1-5:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Transfiguration Church. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
