Obituary of Lois L. Nobis
Lois L. Nobis, 93, passed away peacefully at home on Christmas Day, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on January 12, 1931, to Stuart and Pearl Armstrong, Lois lived a long and beautiful life defined by love, faith, and service.
In her early years, Lois worked as a candy striper at Rome County Hospital, where her caring spirit began to shine. In the summer of 1951, she married the love of her life, Michael W. Nobis Sr., who predeceased her. Together, they built a life full of love and family in Taberg, NY.
A devout parishioner of St. Patrick's Church, Lois was deeply involved in her community. She served as the past president of the Altar Rosary Society and the Annesville PTA, exemplifying her dedication to faith, family, and service. Lois cherished walking along Glenmore Road, accompanied by her loving sister-in-law, Carol Nobis. She found joy in attending water aerobics three times a week at the YMCA, where she formed cherished friendships, and in taking car rides to get ice cream with her grandchildren.
Lois will be remembered as a gentle, loving, and generous woman, whose strength and guidance made her the matriarch of her family. She had a profound love for babies, animals, and flowers. Her favorite dogs, Gracie and Dallas, were her constant companions, always by her side for cuddles and shared treats.
"If flowers grow in heaven, Lord, pick a bunch for me, then place them in my grandmother's arms and tell her they’re from me. Tell her that I love and miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for a while."
Lois was predeceased by her husband, Michael W. Nobis Sr.; her siblings; Robert, Eileen, Ronald, Sandra, Janice, and Donna. Her daughter, Mary Nobis; and her grandchildren, Waylon Nobis, Stephen Dunham, Mark Dunham, and Kyle Dunham.
She is survived by her siblings, Patricia & Sydell.
