"Rockin Ron" Howard, Sr., 64, of Rome, died May 31, 2007, at Rome Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. He was born March 25, 1943, in Potsdam, the son of Stillman and Marjorie Powell Howard. He attended Rome Schools. On August 30, 1969, he married Colleen Rutledge in Rome. Later on, he married Rose Martel in Rome, on August 16, 1997. He was known as Rockin Ron, the D.J. He was employed as a mechanic for Centurion Automotive in Marcy, retiring due to disability. He was previously employed as a truck driver for Bestway Lines in Utica. Surviving besides his wife, are four daughters and two sons-in-law, Marjorie and Robert Unangst, Blossvale, Kristy and Corey Tennant, Taberg, Atlanta Howard, at home, and Tiffany Martel and Chris Dumont, Monticello, NY; one son, Ronald Howard, Jr., Rome; five grandchildren, Samantha, Cory, Colin, Amber and Jasmine; one sister Patricia White, Rome; two brothers and one sister-in-law, David Howard, Rome, and Donald and Denise Narrows, Westmoreland; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins; also, his mother and father-in-law, Carol and Rex Boyce, Monticello, NY; a sister-in-law, Catherine Wilson; and a brother-in-law, William Beam, both of Malone. He was predeceased by one sister, Barbara Clark; and one brother, Bobby Howard. Rockin Ron's family would like to express their gratitude to Colleen Daignault, Lynn Snow, the staff at Betsy Ross, and the Floyd Volunteer Fire Department.
