Obituary of Tonya L. Grimm

Tonya L. Grimm, 45, of Blossvale, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Rome on January 19, 1979, daughter of Clarence “Herb” and Joyce (Aikens) Simpson. She was a graduate of Camden High School, Class of 1997. On October 13, 2012, she was united in marriage to Vincent Grimm.

Tonya worked at Rome Savings Bank and the CNYDDSO before forced to retire due to her illness. She was a lifetime member of the Meeker-O’Rourke American Legion #1309 in Taberg.

Tonya’s happy place was her camp in West Leyden. She enjoyed riding four-wheelers, racing snowmobiles and fishing with her brothers and sister. She was an avid card player and liked to play horseshoes, anything to keep her busy. Her favorite vacation spot was Alaska, where she enjoyed multiple trips with her family.

Tonya was known for her tremendous ability to plan an event with great enthusiasm and detail. She was forever taking pictures and her most favorite thing to do was spend time with and spoil her grandchildren.

Surviving besides her loving husband, Vincent, her mother, Joyce Simpson; three daughters, Ashley Fruin (Denny), Kiara Nodine (Avery) and Autumn Buttacavoli; “bonus daughters”, Katie and Kim; her sister, Tamber Simpson (Jerry); two brothers, Michael Simpson (Valerie) and Danny Simpson; seven cherished grandchildren, Owen, Madilynn, Wade, Dwayne, Drake, Kinzley and Ysabella; her dog, Kodiak; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Herb, and a brother, Kenneth Simpson.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 26^th at 7:00 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 9464 State Rt. 13, Camden NY 13316. Interment will take place in Maple Hill Cemetery in Taberg. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday prior to the service from 4-7:00 p.m.
