Obituary of Carleen M. Bohning

Carleen "Car" Michelle Bohning (Moyer), 50 years old, departed this world peacefully on April 1, 2024, at Rome Health Hospital after displaying unwavering bravery in her long fight against cancer. She came into this world on February 18, 1974, in Pittsburgh, PA, a beloved daughter of Carolyn Y (Yearby) Woods and the late Ernest N Moyer Jr.

 

Carleen attended schools in the Woodland Hills School District in the Pittsburgh PA area. She then moved to Rome in the late 1990s. In 2003, she met the love of her life Richard Bohning Jr. They married on July 18, 2008. Carleen loved helping people and dedicated 10 years of working at ARC Oneida-Lewis Chapter, providing services for individuals with developmental disabilities. Carleen was known for her love of family and cherished spending time with them, especially with her grandchildren. In her free time, Carleen enjoyed playing in local dart and billiard leagues alongside her husband Richard. She loved visiting the casino and had a passion for playing Bingo, a pastime she shared with her grandmother, Doris.

 

Carleen is survived by her mother, Carolyn Y Yearby Woods, grandmother Dorothy R Yearby, brother Christopher M Moyer, sister Sharonda R Woods, children Jasmin M Henderson, Janelle L Henderson, Jalaina S Fehn, Jamiah N Moyer, five grandchildren and one on the way, Ta’Nya, Jayson, Davina, Raquel, and Kimberly. She is also survived by her mother-in-law Arleen Simpson, step-daughters Felicia Bohning (Ian-Anthony) Onofria Felix (Diego), a

step-son Richard Bohning III (Elizabeth) nine grandchildren Joseph, Giuseppe, Ariana, Emma, Aubrey, Curtis, Dominic, Mia and Matteo, her precious fur baby Jewels, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews and other relatives.

 

Carleen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard A Bohning Jr, father Ernest N Moyer Jr., maternal grandfather John H Yearby, paternal grandfather Ernest N Moyer Sr, paternal grandmother Doris Wheeler Moyer, grandson Diego Felix, and her beloved uncle who she held dear to her heart John W Yearby.

 

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Sikder and the entire nursing staff at Slocum-Dickson, as well as the nursing team at Rome Health Hospital, for their unwavering dedication, exceptional care, and genuine compassion in looking after Carleen.

 

A service to honor Carleen's life will be held on April 15th, 2024, at 6:00 pm, at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440. Family and friends are invited to call the funeral home on Monday prior to the service from 4-6:00 p.m.
