Obituary of Francis M. Prosser

Francis M. “Frank” Prosser, 92, of Lee Center, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at home with his loving family by his side. He was born in  Rome on March 4, 1932, a son of the late Rowland and Leona (Treen) Prosser of Lee Center. On February 12, 1955, he was united in marriage to Marion Campbell and had three children, Karen Phillips (deceased), Brenda Jo Prosser (deceased) and Randy Prosser (Jill).

After school Frank joined the United States Army and the 11^th Airborne Division, where he became a Paratrooper and earned rank of Corporal. He spent time in Korea and Japan and received the National Defense Medal, Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Star and the United Nations Service Medal. When he was Honorably Discharged, he returned to home and worked 29 years at RADC as a structural iron worker and heavy crane operator.  

Frank was a member of the Lee American Legion and life member of the Lee Center Fire Department, where he actively served for 57 years.

Surviving besides his loving wife of 69 years, Marion, is his son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Jill Prosser; a brother, Charles “Chuck” Prosser; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two daughters, Karen Phillips and Brenda Jo Prosser; a grandson, Matthew Prosser; two sisters, Arlene and Alice; and two brothers, Harry and Rowland Jr.

Frank was the best Papa ever! He will be truly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 4^th at 7:00 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440. Graveside services with Military Honors will take place in Evergreen Cemetery on Friday, May 3^rd at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home Thursday, April 4^th prior to the service from 4-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Frank’s memory to the Lee Center Fire Department, Hospice and Palliative Care or the Point Rock United Methodist Church.
