Obituary of Joseph A Zigrino

Joseph A. Zigrino Jr., 71, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024, after a brief time at Wynn Hospital in Utica, NY.

Joe was born in Rome, NY, on June 10, 1952, the son of Joseph and Beverly Zigrino. He was educated in Rome schools.

He lived in Rome but worked as a rigger in Syracuse for many years.

Joe was an avid fisherman proudly known as “Zig the Trout Slayer.” He was also one of the best pitch players around and loved to play horseshoes, bocce and pool. Joe had a kind heart and was always there to lend a hand whenever someone needed him.

Joe is survived by his mother, Beverly Semo Zigrino; his daughter, Kali Zigrino; his stepson, Adrian (Andrea) Tagliere; his grandchildren, Savona and Joseph Zigrino IV; his siblings, Darlene Page, Fran Zigrino, Harry Zigrino and Robin Calandra; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, Joseph A. Zigrino III; his father, Joseph A. Zigrino; two brothers, Eddie and John; and several nephews.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Church on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 10 a.m. where the Rev. Paul Angelicchio will officiate. Private interment will take place in St. John's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
