Obituary of Lucy Camuglia

Lucia D. “Lucy, Dolly” Camuglia, 92, of Rome, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Betsy Ross Nursing and Rehab Facility in Rome. Born in Oneida on January 9, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Dina (DiMartinis) Ambrosiani. She was a graduate of Oneida High School and attended LeMoyne College. On August 24, 1957, she was united in marriage to Rosario “Ross” Camuglia. He passed away October 10, 1993.

Lucy was involved in several businesses throughout her working career, including the telephone company, owning Oneida Laundromat and Lucy’s Ceramics. She was a cook at Bethany House in Rome for 20 years as well.

Lucy was a very creative and a detailed artist well known for her ceramics, paintings, clocks and lamps. She was active in TOPS and KOPS, and was always a homeroom mom for her children and a den mother for the Cub Scouts. When she worked at Bethany House, she saved hundreds of soup labels and box tops to help with various fundraisers. She was known by everyone as “Ma.” As talented as she was, her greatest attribute was that she loved without condition.

She is survived by two daughters, Grace Wilhelm (Mark) and Dina Bisbee (Keith); three sons, Salvatore “Sam” Camuglia, Peter Camuglia (Sheila Garrett) and Nino Camuglia (Renata); eleven grandchildren, Stephanie, Raymond, Rachael, Candace, Rosario, Dominic, Lucas, Ryan, Rosario, Anthony and Samuel; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Ferringo; two brothers, Peter and Vincent Ambrosiani; and a granddaughter, Trinity.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 11^th at 6:00 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440. Interment will take place in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday prior to the service from 4-6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Lucy’s memory to Abraham House of Rome, 417 N.
