Obituary of Jose R. Guardiola

Jose R. “Papi” Guardiola, 85, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1, 2024 at the Abraham House of Rome. He was born on November 11, 1938, in Humacao, Puerto Rico.

Papi had the sweetest smile and loved his family. He was an excellent cook and kept an amazing garden. Whenever he could he would head to the canal with his fishing pole.

He is survived by a son, Jose Guardiola, Jr.; stepchildren, Eddie Campos (Tina), Isaac Campos, Danny Campos (Tracey), Ruth Martin and Doris Rodriguez (Hector); and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his long-time companion, Loida Campos; daughter, Evette Guardiola; sister, Edie Guardiola; and two stepchildren, Lillian and Samuel Campos.

Papi’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff on 2 East at Rome Health for their amazing care and compassion.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 10^th at 3:00 p.m. at Kingdom Harvest Church, 706 N. Madison St., Rome NY 13440. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jose’s memory to the Abraham House of Rome, 417 N. Washington St., Rome NY 13440.
