Obituary of Larry J. Bleyer

Larry J. Bleyer, 75, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Colonial Park Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born in Lewistown, PA, on June 25, 1948, a son of the late Earl and Nellie (Hall) Bleyer. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on April 8, 1968 and served in the Vietnam War. He was Honorably Discharged in 1972. In 1984 he was united in marriage to Janet Turner. She passed away March 6, 2019.

Larry’s unwavering commitment shone through during his tenure at Birnie Bus Co., where he adeptly served as a dedicated mechanic and a trusted bus driver. His meticulous nature was evident not only in his work but also in his love for crossword puzzles and his expertise in maintaining and tinkering with his own truck. Larry’s passion for cinema made him a true movie buff, enriching the lives of those around him with his knowledge and enthusiasm.

Larry is survived by a stepdaughter, Rhoda Edinger; three sisters, Mary Turner, Susan Turner and Shirley Turner (Edwin); two brothers, David Gebo (Peggy) and Robert Gebo; two grandchildren, Kenny Edinger (Serena) and Neil Edinger; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Sally Edick; a brother, Charles Gebo; and stepfather, Lawrence Gebo.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in the spring. There are no calling hours.
