Obituary of Janice L. Bowers

Janice L. Bowers, 83, of Lee Center, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024, at Wynn Hospital in Utica. Born in Rome on November 4, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Ruth (Wicks) Henry. She was a graduate of Oriskany High School and on May 13, 1961, she was united in marriage to Harley T. Bowers.

Janice worked at Griffiss Air Force Base for the Department of the Air Force for several years, retiring in 1995. She was a parishioner at St. Joseph’s Church in Lee Center and belonged to the Lee Center Senior Citizens and the YMCA.

Surviving besides her loving husband of 62 years, Harley, are three daughters, Roxeanne DeMarche (Aaron), Amy Fuller (Roy) and Wendy Bowers (Heidi Niessen); a son, Jeffrey Bowers (Brenda); two sisters, Phoebe Mautner (Jack) and Mary Mogensen (John); a brother, Michael Henry (Sheila); six cherished grandchildren, Harley Bowers, Ryan Bowers (Amanda), Aaron and Taylor DeMarche, Ashley Halladay (Andrew) and Rachel Phoenix (Jack) eight precious great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Helene Humez; and three brothers, Thomas, Bernard Jr., and Louis Henry.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 19^th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in Lee Center. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in the spring. Family and friends are invited to call  at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440, on Thursday, January 18^th from 4-6:00 p.m.
