Obituary of Steve Cain

Steve Cain, 74, of Rome, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Colonial Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was born in Florence, SC, on July 4, 1949. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1969 and fought in the Vietnam War. He was Honorably Discharged in 1983 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Pierce College in Washington. On March 20, 1977, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Fielder.

Steve worked for DFAS for over 40 years. He was an avid fan of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks and Atlanta Falcons. He looked forward to spring every year so he could get out and play golf.

Surviving besides his loving wife, Charlotte, is a daughter, Veronica Christopherson; two sons, Steven Cain (Jennifer) and Thomas Cain; four grandchildren, David, Amanda, Isabella and Braeden; and several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.  

Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440, on Wednesday, December 27th from 4-5:00 p.m.  A Memorial service and Military Honors will be held following visitation at 5:00 p.m.
