Obituary of Elizabeth M. Sherman

Elizabeth M. “Betty” Sherman, 95, of Rome, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023 at The Grand of Rome. She was born in Camden on August 28, 1927, and was a graduate of Camden High School.

Betty worked for several local insurance companies before retiring from Metropolitan. She was  a member of the Westmoreland United Methodist Church.

 Betty was very active in several area local social clubs including the Rome Senior Center. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and tending her plants and garden.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and John Snyder; a son and daughter-in-law, Frederick and Rhonda Sherman; four grandchildren, Jeremy Snyder (Heather), Matthew Snyder (Amanda), Kristy Sherman (Neil) and Nicole Edwards (Perry); eight great-grandchildren; and her dog, Twinkles.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 27^th at 11:00 a.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, NY 13440. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 26^th from 4-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betty’s memory may be made to the Humane Society of Rome, 6247 Lamphear Rd., Rome NY 13440.
