Lorraine and family, I am so sorry for your lost, I had planned to go to the calling hours, but by the time I realized it, they were over. I played for Tom a couple years, but whenever I saw him afterwards, he always remembered who I was, very impressive. He really was a special guy, he worked out asses off at practice, but it was all worth it because of the W's. Rest in peace Coach! Rick Loreto

To The Hoke Family I heard on the TV the loss of Thomas Hoke. The Hoke family was part of my grandmother's Ida Barrett Stocking connection. Thomas' parents and boys often visited grandmother's farm in East Springfield N.Y. My mother Dorothy Stocking Smith and I had visited Thomas' parents Raymond and Catherine in Rome a few times. My family send condolences to all of your family at the time of your loss. He certainly was a wonderful coach and loved by all. Carolyn Smith Elwell

My sincere condolences to the entire Hoke Family. I had the privilege of playing football for Coach Hoke back in the day and to this day are still some of my fondest memories. He along with Coaches Bruce, Myslinski and Niemi complimented each other and were able to create the finest football program in the State. Coach Hoke expected and brought out the best of us and his leadership instilled me values that I practice and teach today. Whenever our paths crossed he always greeted me with an enthusiastic smile and took a sincere interest of where I was in life. Coach Hoke was a fine man and I’m a better man today for the brief time we shared. As Always, Chris Adolfi

I am so very sorry to learn of Coach Hoke's passing. I have such fond memories of him during my years of playing basketball at RFA. One of my favorite coaches. He was stern. He was focused. He was funny. To this day I think of the times he'd call my home after a long and difficult practice, to discuss strategy for the next day's game. He was always so dedicated to the game and more importantly to our team, making sure we were ok and of course making sure everyone grades were on par so they could play in key games. I am grateful he took over as head coach my last year at RFA. I believe it was the first time he coached girls. What an eye opener for him I'm sure. But what an opportunity for us. And I was so appreciative that he made time in his busy schedule to see me play a few times during my college career as well. I've thought about him often over the years. It's been 36 yrs since my time at RFA, and yet that formidable season playing for him seems like just yesterday. He will be missed. Thinking of his family during this time.

To the Hoke family… My thoughts and prayers on the passing of Coach Hoke. I remember Coach Hoke as I competed against his son Mike and then as I started my officiating career. He was a wonderful man who wanted to see his student-athletes excel on and off the field. Peace and comfort in the days ahead. God Bless Coach Hoke.

Dear Lorraine and family, Julie and I send our deepest condolences. As you know, Coach was a special man who meant so much to so many. I have many fond memories and will remember them with a smile. He lived a wonderful life and got to spend his last years with his family by his side. Rest In Peace Coach, you earned it!!! Thank you for everything. You taught me more about life than most. Rome lost a great one today, but he improved God's roster... LOL!!! Until we meet again and no one ever said it better, "run it again." Love Pete and Julie Sestito
