Obituary of Thomas J. Mierek

Thomas J. Mierek, 72, of Westernville, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023, just four days prior to his 73rd birthday. Born in Utica on July 19, 1950, he was a son of the late Joseph and Kinga (Stolarczyk) Mierek. He was a 1969 graduate of Holland Patent High School.

Tommy and his late brother Carl owned and operated Sunnybrook Dairy Farm in Westernville. He was a member of Transfiguration Church and the Carmichael Hill Game Club. He loved to hunt and went on a great hunting trip to Colorado with family and friends. He had a passion for antique tractors, especially John Deere tractors.

He is survived by three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Annette Waterman with whom he was currently living with, Chris and Maynard Anken with whom he lived the previous eight years, Maria and Joseph Fazekas,  Sr.; one brother and two sisters-in-law, George and Barbara Mierek, Sr. and Virginia Mierek; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Carl Mierek and Joseph Mierek, Jr.; and a brother-in-law, Darrell Waterman, Sr.

Family and friends are invited to attend at graveside service on Friday, July 21st at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Rome. There are no calling hours. Contributions in Tommy’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
