Please share a memory of Kathleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Kathleen Jeanette Babcock passed away on June 21st 2023 after fighting a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She passed away at home under the loving care of her Granddaughter Melinda Grant and Melinda’s husband Andrew Grant.

Kathleen was born in McConnellsville N.Y. on November 29th 1943 to the late Oscar and Marian Trudell Coonrod. She was the third of four children in the family .

She grew up in the Camden area and attended schools

In McConnellsville and Camden where she met the love of her life Harold E. Babcock. They were married on May 6th 1961. Harold passed away in November of 2021 leaving a deep void in her life.

Working side by side they built a home on Babcock Road now known as Cross Rd in the town of Camden. It was there that she lived out her life. In this home they would raise their family which consisted of a son Harold R. Babcock (Anna Vanderworken) and a daughter Theresa (Babcock) Winter (Donald Hansberger) Kathy also had 3 grandchildren Adam Babcock, (Nicole Levensailor), Stacy Babcock (Zach Grinnell) and granddaughter Melinda (Andrew) Grant and they all blessed her with many great grandchildren.

While raising a family she also worked outside of the home. She worked at Oneida Ltd. for 14 years and when it closed its doors she went back to school and got a job at Griffiss Air Base in telephone operations which she loved very much. When the base closed, she went to work at DFAS as an accounting technician in the finance department.

She retired at 62 and came home to enjoy her family. She loved reading, cooking and planning as well as hosting big family dinners. Thanksgiving was always her favorite. The more the merrier.

Kathy also loved to travel. She journeyed to England, Scotland and Wales and she also went to the Azores off of Portugal. She loved Texas and spending time in Florida with her Aunt and Uncle. She would also travel to Maine to visit her sister whenever possible. She loved the ocean but even more so she couldn’t wait to head to her sister’s camp in Lincoln ME to kayak. She was always looking to spot a moose on the shore or hear the loons.

Besides the aforementioned family she leaves behind a sister Mildred (Peter) Evans, Solon ME. and a sister Sally Johnston and special brother-in-law Raymond Johnston of Camden.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother and best childhood buddy Laverne O. Coonrod.

Kathy and her infectious laugh and zest for life will be sadly missed by many!

Per Kathy’s request there will be no services. Kathy will be laid to rest with a private burial in the Maple Flats cemetery next to her husband.
