Obituary of Matthew S. Pelland

MSgt. Matthew S. Pelland, 39, of Canastota, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born at Lackland AFB, TX, on September 3, 1983, he was the son of Timothy and Suzanne (Libersat) Pelland.  He was a 2002 graduate of Seminole High School in Sanford, FL. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was currently stationed at the Eastern Air Defense Sector at Griffis Air Force Base.

On August 26, 2006, he was united in marriage to Carrie Merrihew.

Matt was a member of Redeemer Church in Rome.

He was loving husband and father who devoted his life to his family. He enjoyed being at home, puttering around looking for his next project to complete.

Surviving besides his loving wife, Carrie, are his parents, Timothy and Suzanne; four beloved children Declan, Devlin, Dashton and Davina; four sisters, Tracy Vintimilla, Amy Davis (Troy), Anna McAuley (Michael) and Elizabeth Pelland; eight nieces and nephews; his in-laws, Steven and Robbin Merrihew Sr.; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Steven Merrihew, Jr. (Rachel), Melony Yates and Shelia Yates; and several cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 22^nd at 6:00 p.m. at Redeemer Church, 129 N. Washington St., Rome NY 13440. Family and friends are invited to call at the church on Thursday prior to the service from 4-6:00 p.m.
