It is with a heavy heart that I offer my deepest condolences to the family and friends of William. He was known for his kindness and his ability to make everyone laugh. I had the pleasure of meeting him about three decades ago, where he would sell me auto parts with a smile on his face. His generosity and willingness to help others in need will never be forgotten. William will always remain one of my dearest friends and his love for racing will forever be remembered. May God provide comfort during this difficult time.

Bill helped me many times over the years, usually with car issues...he was the expert. But there was one occasion when I was living in Rome, when I found a mouse swimming in my toilet. I panicked, called Bill. He said, "Flush"...and went into his big booming laugh. He always had a big smile and a giant hug....and the only man in the world that could call me Durf...and I didn't care. You will be missed!

There has never been a better man then Bill. He was kind, generous and always had a smile on his face. He treated my son Joshua like he was one of his own. After Josh passed away I had stopped up to the garage and they had a picture of him hanging on the wall. Bill had said such nice things about my son that it touched my heart and I will never forget his kindness and compassion. We would see him often at Kings Buffet. Of course we would always have lengthy catch-up conversations. Poor guy never got to eat hot food after we showed up. My heart hurts for all who knew and loved him. Bill Herring was a much respected and admired man, he will be missed to so so many.

I go back many years sitting next to Bill at Debbie's coffee shop next to the old Buzz Tavern. I would stop after work and he would be there. A very kind caring man.He will be missed by many.
