Obituary of Paul L Pileckas

Paul Pileckas passed away peacefully on May 24, 2023, with his loving family by his side. He was born July 22, 1931 in Amsterdam, NY, to Joseph and Monica Pileckas. He was one of eight children all who predeceased him, as well as a grandson, Stephan Paul Granacki. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Janet, his son Stephan (Michele) Granacki, granddaughter Kristin (Mark) Leonard and great-grandchildren Bowen, Sullivan and Leighton Leonard.

Paul was an attorney for over 50 years in Rome. He was Past President of the New York State Bar Association and the Colgate Maroon Council. Paul was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and a strong supporter of Colgate Athletics. He graduated from Amsterdam High School, Colgate University and Cornell Law School. He served three years as a Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps.

Some of Paul’s favorite times were spent attending Colgate football and hockey games. He also enjoyed many summers spent at his home on Cape Cod. He was very compassionate to all of his clients, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

A special thanks to the staff at Bethany Gardens for all of the care and compassion given to Paul.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
