Obituary of Eleanor L. Hall
Eleanor L. “Elly” Hall, 87, of Blossvale, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Betsy Ross Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born at home in Rome on February 6, 1936, a daughter of the late Forest V. and Dora A. (Pritchard) Palmer. She was a graduate of Rome Free Academy, Class of 1954.
On December 31, 1954, Elly enlisted in the United States Air Force where she researched classified documents. She was honorably discharged on September 20, 1956, at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. Upon returning back to the Rome area she was united in marriage to Donald E. Hall on September 7, 1962. He passed away October 25, 2014.
Elly was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was also a lifetime member of the Lee American Legion.
Elly was a talented artist and writer and an avid reader. She was a self-taught oil painter, with the help of Bob Ross, and she had some of her poetry published. She had a passion for fishing ever since she was a young girl and she was huge fan of the NY Yankees.
She is survived by two daughters, Tracy Hall and Christine Gums (Kevin); three sisters, Dorothy Sweet, Marion Sweet and Barbara Solverson; four grandchildren, Kevin Russell, Kelly Russell, Jacob Come (Casey) and Meaghan Come (Richard); two great-grandchildren, Kasen and Osiana; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Lori Anne; and a sister, Eileen.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 23rd at 4:00 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on April 23rd prior to the service from 2-4:00 p.m.
