Obituary of Priscilla M. Gruby

Priscilla M. “Polly” Gruby, 81, of Rome, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023, at Rome Health. She was born in Rome on March 27, 1942, a daughter of the late Carlton and Catherine (Perry) Gruby. She was a graduate of Rome Free Academy.

Polly worked as a CNA at Stonehedge Nursing Home for 40 years before retiring. She was member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Polly was an animal lover and her cats and dog, Vanilla Bean, were her children.

She is survived  by several nieces and nephews including Laura Williamson, Catherine Kimball, Floyd and Louie Amberg, John Williamson, Debbie Gruby and Suzzette Leach; and several cousins including, Ruth Dutcher and William Gruby. She was predeceased by sisters, Ellen Gruby, Malescia Dinco, Charline Amberg, Cora Gruby and Ellen Gruby; brothers, Carlton and Charles Gruby, and Gale Smith; and nephews, Joseph and Joshua Amberg, and Adam Laroux.

Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440, on Monday, April 10^th, from 4-6:00 p.m. Interment will take place in Floyd Cemetery later this spring.
