Obituary of Charline P. Amberg

Charline P. Amberg, 76, of Doxtator St., Rome, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at the Abraham House in Rome.

She was born on January 16, 1947, in Rome, the daughter of Carlton and Catherine (Perry) Gruby. 

Charline was of the Lutheran faith.

Her greatest joy in life was her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Her family meant the world to her.

Surviving are her four children, Floyd Amberg (Denise Lampman), of NC, Louis Amberg (Bonita Capparelli), of Rome, John (Jessica) Williamson, of Rome, and Laura Williamson (Tyrone Cunningham), of Rome; a sister, Priscilla “Polly” Gruby, of Rome; twenty-one grandchildren; two special extended family members, Lori Amberg, and Patricia Ball; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.  Charline was predeceased by a son, Joseph F. Amberg, on June 11, 1999; a grandson, Joshua M. Amberg on January 1, 2016; a brother, Carlton Gruby; and two sisters, Ellen Gruby and Malescia Dinco.

Graveside services will be held in the spring at Floyd Cemetery.  Family and friends are invited and may call on Thursday, March 23, 2023, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
