He joined the Air Force in 1951 and came to Rome where he met and married Gertrude (Trudy) Baynes on July 31, 1954. Charlie was a graphic designer/illustrator in the multimedia department at Rome Laboratory for 42 years, retiring in 1993. He left an artist’s legacy. He designed and painted the noses of ten B-29 bombers, which included Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the Wicked Witch, and last but not least, “Rosie the Rat Race”.

He was also on the patient family advisory council at St Elizabeth Medical Center. He was a founding member of St. Paul’s Church, Rome, NY. Charlie loved to snow ski at Woods Valley and usually made first tracks after the groomer left his perfect corduroy. He finally hung up his skis at the age of 88.

Charlie is survived by 2 daughters, Nan K. Pfrimmer and Sandra J. Pfrimmer, both of Rome, and special friend Jeri Kaskoun of Rome. He was predeceased by his wife Trudy of 52 years in 2006, and his son Richard who passed away in December 2022.

The family extends their gratitude to Charlie’s wonderful caregivers Carol, Landa, Barb, and Mariah.
