Obituary of Arlene A. Markin

Please share a memory of Arlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Arlene (Abbuhl) Markin, of Dracut, MA, is at rest after a brief illness. Formerly of Rome, NY, she was the daughter of the late Howard J. Abbuhl and Elizabeth (Grems) Abbuhl of Ava, NY.  Arlene graduated from Holland Patent High School and retired from Oneida County Office of Social Services in Utica.

She is pre-deceased by her husband of 54 years, John Markin, and a son, David Markin, as well as two brothers, Howard A. Abbuhl and Donald Abbuhl.  She is survived by her daughter, Susan Markin of Dracut, MA, a sister Jean Wetherell of Billerica, MA, and a sister-in-law, Georgia Abbuhl of Ava, NY, and many nieces and nephews.

She loved her family and friends, and cared deeply about each one. She enjoyed flowers and loved to dance in her younger days.  She volunteered at events sponsored by her church, The First Presbyterian Church of Rome, and also liked to help with preparing meals for the Rome Rescue Mission.

Graveside services will be held in the spring. There are no calling hours.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, inc. , 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440.
