Obituary of Janine M. Drennen

Janine M. Drennen, 62 years, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Rome Health. She was born on Tuesday September 20, 1960 in Rome, the daughter of the late Russell and  Loretta (Sheppard) Smith. On October 27, 1982, she was united in marriage to Houston Drennen. He passed away June 10, 2015. 

Janine worked at the Herkimer County Home for the Aged and Country Manor. 

She was constantly listening to music and country was her favorite. She enjoyed horror movies and books. Spending time with family and her dog, Treasure, was her favorite thing to do. Janine was a fun-loving sister and aunt that would tell you when you were right or wrong. She would laugh with you and cry with you, and she was always there when you needed her. She had a wonderful sense of humor. Janine was very loved, she will be greatly missed and is irreplaceable. 

She is survived by a daughter, Heidi Smith; four step-children she treated as her own, Sheila Carcone (Phil), Mary Blohm, Daniel Drennen (Dawn) and Greg Drennen; three brothers, Jeffrey Smith, Alan Smith (Tina) and Jamie Smith (Toby); two sisters-in-law, Tammy Smith and Dawn Galloway; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Jacqueline Smith.

Janine's family would like to thank the staffs at St. Luke's and Rome Health for their wonderful care and compassion. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Janine's memory to the Rome Humane Society.
