Obituary of John F. Detrick

John F. Detrick, 63, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at the Abraham House of Rome. He was born in St. Joseph’s, MO, on May 22, 1959, a son of the late Joseph and Wanda (Gibbs) Detrick. On January 30, 1982, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Beam in Fort Worth, TX.

John served in the United States Army from 1976-78 After being Honorably Discharged, he became a union painter working for Interstate Drywall. He later worked at Laribee Machine in Camden, NY.

John was active in the Camden community with the Boy Scouts, Little League and Pop Warner. He was also an avid fisherman.

Surviving besides his loving wife of 40 years, Elizabeth, are three sons, John D. Detrick (Katrina), Adam Detrick (Katie) and Zachary Detrick (Erika); a sister, Sheila Williams (Ken); five brothers, Steven (Alda), Michael, James, Eugene and William (Michelle); daughter-in-law, Amanda DeCarolis; eight grandchildren, Kayda, Hans, Gianna, Annika, Sydney, Mason, Genevieve and Elianna; and several nieces and nephews.

John’s family would like to thank the staff at the Abraham House of Rome for their exceptional care and compassion.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 27^th at 3:00 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, NY 13440. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday prior to the service from 1-3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in John’s memory to the Abraham House of Rome, 417 N.
