Obituary of Robert J. Barber

Robert Joseph Barber, 47, of Blossvale, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford. Born in Rome on November 10, 1974, he was a son of Raymond and Gloria (Curtis) Barber. He was a 1992 graduate of Rome Free Academy.

Bob was a 1^st Degree Black Belt in Karate and enjoyed hunting, four-wheeling, dirt bikes, model cars, his Camaro and Mountain Dew. He loved spending time with his children and grandson most of all.

Surviving besides his parents, Raymond and Gloria, is his wife of 22 years, Tonya; three children, Anthony Barber, Katie Varano (John Marmol) and Robbie Waller; grandchildren, Jaxon Robert Dennis, Sierra and John; sister, Amy Crippen (David); brother, Raymond Barber Jr. (Cindy); mother-in-law, Judy Beckwith (Keith); sisters-in-law, Nicole Beckwith (Keain) and Desiree Beckwith (Michael); and those babies, Joyce, Alivia and Riley; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and best friends, Dave and Gary.

Bob’s family would like to thank the staff on ICU at St. Luke’s for the excellent care and compassion, as well as special friend, Marissa from dialysis. 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 14^th at 6:00 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday prior to the service from 4-6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bob’s memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
