Obituary of Alice J. Duprey

Alice J. Duprey, 98, of Rome, passed away at Bethany Gardens on October 19, 2022. She was born in Plattsburg, NY, on July 1, 1924, the daughter of the late Roland and Catherine Loso. On August 4, 1941, she married Francis Duprey in West Chazy, NY. He predeceased her on November 9, 2003.

Alice worked at Victory Markets and Great American for many years until her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church until its closing and then joined St. Peter’s Church.

Alice is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Helene Duprey; daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Fred Gray; a son-in-law, Truett Sweeting (Sue); six grandchildren, Renae, Eric, Judy, JoAnn, Randy and Russell; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Lorraine Nelson; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Loso. She was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Sweeting; two sisters, Grace Melioris and Mae Cowan; and a brother, Robert Loso.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 24th  at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church, 200, N. James St., Rome NY 13440. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the church prior to the Mass from 10-11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Alice’s memory to the St. Peter’s Church Memorial Fund.
