Obituary of Gerald R. McGowen

Gerald R. McGowen, Sr., 78, of Rome, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at Rome Health. He was born on September 28, 1943, a son of the late George and Margaret (Quackenbush) McGowen. On January 23, 1971, he was united in marriage to Dale S. Durgan.

Gerald was a lifelong truck driver  and spent the last 51 years driving for Felice Moving and Storage.

Surviving besides his loving wife, Dale, is a daughter, Tina McGowen; a son, Gerald McGowen, Jr.; five grandchildren, Richard Boyd, Tyler Boyd (Emily), Hannah Asch, and Izaic and Maveric McGowen; three great-granddaughters, Paisleigh and Baylee Boyd and Madelynn Baker; and his Felice family.

Gerald’s family would like to thank the ER and ICU staffs at Rome Health for their wonderful care and compassion.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
