Obituary of Dennis P. Lemon

Dennis P. Lemon, 67, of Ava, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2022. Born in Rome on September 13, 1955, he was a son of the late David and Elvera (Lauber) Lemon. He was a graduate of Rome Catholic High School and served his country in the United States Navy from 1974-78.On September 7, 1974, he was united in marriage to Marcia Krumbach.

Dennis was a firefighter at Griffiss Air Force Base for seven years before transferring to the City of Rome Fire Department, where he was stationed for the remainder of his career until his retirement.

He was a member of the Lee Legion and Frank J. Steczko Post.

Surviving besides his loving wife of 48 years, Marcia, is a daughter, Shannon Bell (William); two sons, David and Brian Lemon; three sisters, Mary, Therese and Patricia Lemon; five brothers, Joseph Lemon (Dianne), Michael Lemon (Karyn), Timothy Lemon, Shawn Lemon (Sue) and Dion Lemon (Rita); three beloved grandchildren, Lauryn, Aiden and Connor; a sister-in-law, Christine Boxall (Rick); and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Lois Krumbach.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 19th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church, 200 N. James St, Rome NY 13440. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation (jdrf.org) or Clear Path For Vets (www.clearpath4vets.com).
