Obituary of Thomas A. McEwen

Thomas A. McEwen, 63, of Verona, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Oneida Health. Born in Spokane, WA, on March 4, 1959, he was a son of the late Richard and Jeannine McEwen. Tom was a graduate of Rome Free Academy and furthered his studies at MVCC and Clarkson University with a BS in Electrical Engineering before finishing at Syracuse University with a Master’s Degree in Solid State Physics. On August 5, 1989, he was united in marriage to Lauri Stagner in St. Patrick’s Church in Taberg.

Tom worked at the Air Force Research Laboratory for 33 years, retiring in 2015.

Surviving besides his loving wife, Lauri, are three children Nathaniel, Benjamin and Colleen McEwen; two sisters, Rindy Pallas (David) and Jeannine Walls; two brothers, Richard McEwen and James McEwen (Mary Beth); and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Martha McEwen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Taberg. Interment will take place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the church prior to Mass on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
