Obituary of Nora Proper

Nora Proper, 91, of New London, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Rome on December 28, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Mary (Elmore) Hernandez. On January 31, 1949, she was united in marriage to Martin Proper. He passed away in 1997.

Nora worked for the Rome State School for 37 years before retiring. She was a member of the New London Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Lee Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the White Front Rod and Gun Club.

Nora is survived by two daughters, Nora Jaynes (Fred) and Connie Little (Donald); two sons, Charles Proper (Christine) and Martin Proper (Theresa); brother, Martin Hernandez (Rita); nineteen grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Gilbert Lovett and Uriel Hernandez.

Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, NY, 13440, on Monday, September 12^th from 4-7:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 13^th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place in New Union Cemetery in Verona.
