Obituary of Dorothea Jackson

Dorothea Jackson, 81, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Rome Health. Born in New York City on December 28, 1940, she was a daughter of the late John and Ruth (Owens) Webb.

Dorothea worked in Rome for Community Action for many years. Previously, she ran a daycare out of her home to help military families and she also worked at Rome Nursing Home.  

She was a member of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church and taught Sunday School there for many years.

She is survived by three daughters, Doreena Wimberly, Dawn Wimberly and Ruth Morgan (Reuben); two sons, Vallel Jackson and Michael Jackson (Shelly); and eighteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Valerie; two grandsons, Donald and Tyrone; great-grandchild, Ta’Shya; and great-great-grandchild, Xavier.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 15^th at 10:00 a.m. at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 203 Erie Blvd E., Rome NY 13440. There are no calling hours.
