Obituary of Leone E. McCarney

Leone E. McCarney, 95, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford. Born in Rome on December 28, 1926, she was a daughter of the late James and Charlotte (Noble) MacDonald. On October 28, 1949, she was united in marriage to Leo McCarney. He passed away June 4, 1980.

Leone owned and operated the Cottage Bakery in Rome for several years. She loved to bake and cook for all of her family and friends.

She is survived by a daughter, Jacalyn Whitby (Andrew); two sons, Patrick McCarney (Kelly) and James McCarney (Paula); five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
