Obituary of Julia K. Poremba

Julia K. Poremba, 91, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at SUNY Upstate Medical Center. Born in Rome on August 6, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Mikolajczyk) Poremba. She was a graduate of Oriskany High School.

Julia owned and operated Hornet Motors in Rome for many years. She was an active member of All Saints Polish National Church, the United Polka League and the Rome Polish Home.

Julia loved to garden and was known for her African Violets for which she won many awards for through the years at various shows. She was an avid fan of horseracing and traveled to many tracks including the county fairs, Vernon Downs, Saratoga and Finger Lakes.  

She is survived by two nieces, her Goddaughter Teresa Pasiak (Jackie MacLeod) and Christine Pasiak; and several cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Jennie (Poremba) Pasiak; a brother, Joseph Poremba; and her longtime companion, Frank Browka.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 18th, at 10:00 a.m. at All Saints Polish National Church. Interment will take place in All Saints Polish National Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Sunday, July 17th from 2-4:00 p.m.
