Obituary of Joy L. Bingham

Joy L. Bingham, 88, formerly of Rome, completed her earthly journey on Thursday May 26, 2022, at the Presbyterian Home, New Hartford. Born in Rome, NY on April 27, 1934, she was the daughter of Russell and Mabel Bingham. She graduated from Rome Free Academy, and in 1953, she married John Larkin. Together they had 3 daughters that gave her enormous happiness and great pride. Joy was very crafty and spent her time when her girls were young, sewing their school dresses and making doll clothes for them. She was an avid knitter and crocheter and made dozens, if not hundreds, of blankets for babies and adults to give as gifts. Joy worked for over 20 years at Rome Hospital and took great pride in her contributions at the hospital. Surviving are 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Peter Armstrong of Summerville, SC, Debra and Joseph Moccaldi of Clinton, NY, and Lisa and Robert Snyder of Endwell, NY. Her grandchildren and great grandchild were so important to her, and she followed their lives closely; Erin and her husband Blake Harbin, Sean Armstrong, Lauren Rocker and her husband Tom and their baby daughter Amelia, Caitlyn Graff and her husband Adam, and Brady Moccaldi. Also surviving is one sister, June Austin of Florida and one brother, Russell Bingham Jr and his wife Linda of Colorado and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Russell and Mabel, as well as sisters Gloria (Tootie) Hughes, Barbara Leszczynski, Loretta Yager, Nancy Jones, and Sheila Elmer. Her family was her life and while we will miss her, we are glad she will be reunited with those that passed before her.
