Obituary:Joseph J. "Cat" Catanzaro, 53, of 6528 Bankert Rd., Ava, died on Monday, December 17, 2007, at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 25, 1954, in Rome, the son of Bernard and Anna Netti Catanzaro. He was a graduate of Rome schools. On February 22, 1975, he married Rhonda Bartlett in Rome.
Joe was employed by Taberg Residential Center for the past seventeen years. He was previously employed by Harden's Furniture.
Surviving besides his loving wife, Rhonda, is one daughter, Nichole Catanzaro, Ava; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joseph Catanzaro and his fiancé, Lori Wilcox, Yorkville, and Robert and Heather Catanzaro of Rome; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Diana and Richard Sadlon, Rome, and MaryKay Nitti and his niece, Katelyn Nitti, Rome; two cherished granddaughters, Allie, and Miranda; and a loving mother-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joe loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his dog, Buster. Cooking and watching the Boston Red Sox were some of his passions.
Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., on Friday, December 21, 2007, at 11:15 AM and a Mass of the Christian Burial at 12:00 PM at Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church. Interment will be held at Rome Cemetery in the spring. Family and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Contributions may be made in Joe's memory to the charity of your choice.
