(Sandy) Race, 69, of 7259 Coleman Mills Rd., Rome and Ormond Beach, Florida, died Thursday, December 13, 2007 at her Rome residence with her loving family at her side. She was born October 4, 1938 in Sherburne, New York the daughter of Clayton and Mildred Duncan Fletcher. Sandy was a graduate of Clinton High School. On August 29, 1969 she married Donald J. Race in Marcy. She was employed at the Rome Developmental Center for several years retiring in 1994 and was previously employed at Utica Psychiatric Center. Surviving besides her husband are three daughters, Lori Dougall, Utica; Shari Langdon, Rock Hill, South Carolina; Kim Meadows, Rome; three sisters and a brother- in-law, Linda and Merwin Drake, Waterville; Jane Fletcher, Rome; Pauline Bateman, Waterville; two brothers, Wesley Fletcher, Hollywood, Florida; Douglas Tilbe, Camden; nine grandchildren, Miranda, Tiffany, Andrea, Nicole, Brandon, Teasha, Courtney, Cassandra, Kayla and five great-grandchildren, Hashan, Jaelyn, Rosalena, Shamiere and Kaleb and several loving and caring nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Larry and Bill Fletcher. Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome Sunday 10:30AM. Interment Kirkland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday 4:00P.M. to 7:00P.M. Contributions may be made in Sandy's name to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc.
